Dennis N. Jacokes, M.D. Diplomate, American Board of Family Practice Member, American Medical Association Member, North Carolina Medical Society Member, Durham County Medical Society Dennis N. Jacokes, M.D., graduated with honors from the University of North Carolina with a B.A. degree in psychology in 1987. He earned his medical degree from the UNC School of Medicine. Dr. Jacokes served his internship and residency with the department of family medicine at the University of California, Irvine. Professional interests include management of general medical conditions including diabetes, hypertension (blood pressure) and cholesterol. Special interests include sports medicine, skin cancers, and treatment of anxiety and depression. He enjoys spending time with his family, which includes his wife, two daughters, dog and four cats. His hobbies include sports, jogging, reading, photography, and Carolina basketball.
Richard K. Torrey, MD Diplomate, American Board of Family Practice Member, American Medical Association Member, North Carolina Medical Society Member, Durham County Medical Society Dr. Torrey is a Louisiana native (despite being born in Rochester, New York). He is a 1980 graduate of the Louisiana State University Medical School of New Orleans. He completed a three year residency in Family Medicine in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, then took his new wife to North Carolina, where they have resided ever since. Dr. Torrey was a solo practitioner in Middlesex, North Carolina for nine years, before moving to the big city. He has practiced family medicine in Raleigh since 1992, and has not slowed down yet. He enjoys bicycling, the culinary arts, travel and tossing the tennis ball with his border collie.
Adam Schwartz, MHS, P.A.-C Adam completed his undergraduate degree from the University of Massachusetts in 1993 and graduate training from Emory University Physician Assistant Program in 1998. Following graduation he worked in a family medicine practice in Stockbridge, Georgia for several years before moving to North Carolina in 2001 to work at Duke Diet and Fitness Center. He became a faculty member at Duke Family Medicine. In 2007 he was recruited to Imperial Center Family Medicine, where his wife, Jeanne, practices. His practice interests include sports medicine, hypertension and diabetes. In his (limited) spare time he enjoys playing with his kids and dog.
Amy G. Hird, P.A.-C Member, American Academy of Physician Assistants Member, North Carolina Academy of Physician Assistants Member, Triangle Area Physician Assistants Amy Hird, Physician Assistant earned a Master of Medical Science degree from the Emory University School of Medicine Physician Assistant Program in 1999, where she was recognized for academic and clinical excellence by the Emory Progress and Promotions Committee. She has completed clinical rotations at Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia and Yale University School of Medicine. She is a 1998 graduate of The College of William and Mary. She is a New Englander who enjoys cooking, Duke basketball, shopping and spending a lot of time outdoors hiking with her husband, two sons, and crazy dog.
Angela K. Purcell, MHS, PA-C Member, American Academy of Physician Assistants Member, North Carolina Academy of Physician Assistants Member, Triangle Area Physician Assistants Angela graduated with a Master in Health Science from Duke University PA program in 2001. She completed her under graduate degree from North Carolina State University in 1995 and is a die hard Wolfpack fan! After graduating from NCSU, she worked for three years as a clinical embryologist where she assisted couples experiencing infertility. She is a North Carolina native who enjoys the outdoors, water sports, gardening, sewing, and spending time with her husband and children.
Hita Desai Abrams, M.P.H., PA-C Member, American Academy of Physician Assistants Member, North Carolina Academy of Physician Assistants Member, North Carolina Medical Society Member, Triangle Area Physician Assistants Hita Abrams is a native of Columbia, South Carolina who graduated from Clemson University in 2002. She received a Masters of Public Health from the University of South Carolina in 2005, which gives her divided loyalties. She earned her Physician Assistant degree, a Masters of Health Science from Drexel University/Hahnemann Hospital in Philadelphia in 2007. She enjoys Indian cooking, Clemson football, and spending time outdoors with her husband.
Jeanne Eyman, P.A.-C Member, American Academy of Physician Assistants Member, North Carolina Academy of Physician Assistants Member, Triangle Area Physician Assistants Jeanne Eyman is a native of Warner Robbins, Georgia who attended Oxford College and Emory University. She graduated with honors from the Physician Assistant program at Emory University in 1999. She and her Physician Assistant husband moved to the triangle in 2001; she has worked at Imperial Center Family Medicine since. She loves gardening, cooking, hiking and caffeine, not necessarily in that order. She has a son, a set of twins, and a Weimaraner.
Krista M. Kirby, MHS, P.A.-C Member, American Academy of Physician Assistants Member, North Carolina Academy of Physician Assistants Member, Triangle Area Physician Assistants Member, Christian Medical & Dental Society Krista graduated with a BS in Chemistry from Appalachian State University in 1996. She then went on to work as a Nursing Assistant and ER Tech at Rex Healthcare. She received her Masters of Health Science from Duke University in 2002 and has been a Physician Assistant with ICFM since 2003. She is a native North Carolinian who serves in the children's department and other aspects of her church, likes reading, and spending time walking, gardening and exploring the outdoors. She and her family enjoy eating and experimenting with fresh local and organic foods. Their Rottweiler, however, still prefers Eukanuba!
Rebecca Betts, PA-C Member, NC Medical Society Member, Christian Medical Association Rebecca Betts earned a Bachelor of Science from the Medical College of Georgia where she graduated with honors in 1985. Prior to joining the practice in 1999, she served as the Medical Director of Adult Health Services at the Wake County Department of Health. While there she worked with the homeless, refugee and migrant health programs as well as health promotion/disease prevention programs. She enjoys camping, hiking, cooking and spending time with her husband and children.
